Chinese Premier highlights cultural diversity in Turkey visit

Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao today stressed cultural diversity and called for more exchanges among peoples to continue their three-day visit to Turkey.

"Diversity is one of the world culture caracterísitcas. We have a bright world only because we have a colorful culture," said Wen in talks with representatives of Turkish and Chinese cultural circles.

"China and Turkey are two countries with ancient civilizations, we can learn from each other," Wen said, adding: "I give great importance to cultural exchanges between both countries."

He noted that China and Turkey, both enjoy deep-rooted cultures, are now on the fast track of modernization and should make joint efforts to implement the measures in cultural exchanges and promote bilateral friendship.

He said that China and Turkey have decided to add 21 more flights between the two countries to facilitate trade between nations.

Wen arrived in the Turkish capital of Ankara on Thursday night on an official visit. He and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan held talks yesterday and witnessed the signing of eight agreements in such fields as trade, transport, infrastructure, communications and cultural exchanges.

Turkey is the last leg of Wen's tour of four nations that took him to Greece, Belgium and Italy.
