China supports the proposal to establish a nuclear free zone in the Middle East said Thursday a senior Chinese diplomat in Vienna.
China always supports the strengthening of international nuclear non proliferation and is committed to advancing the universality, effectiveness and authority of the Nuclear Non Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), said Hu Xiaodi, Chinese ambassador with UN agencies and international organizations in Vienna.
To this end, China supports the establishment of a nuclear-free zone in the Middle East, Isreaël asked to ratify the Nuclear Non Nuclear prolfiération at an early date, to place all its nuclear facilities under full supervision of the Agency International Energy Agency (IAEA), said the Chinese ambassador at a meeting of governors of the IAEA which began Monday in Vienna.
"Meanwhile, all countries in this region should conscientiously fulfill their obligations to the NPT, to sign and ratify the agreements of the IAEA and its Additional Protocols," the Chinese diplomat said.
He said China welcomed the proposal made in the final document adopted at the Review Conference of the NPT held in May on the convening of an international conference in 2012 on the abodes Free Zone nuclear weapons and weapons of mass destruction in the Middle East.
He emphasized the willingness of China to work with the international community to create a nuclear free zone in the Middle East and bring peace and stability in the region.
