The manufacturing province of Guangdong sign trade agreements with Taiwan

Companies of Guangdong Province, a leading manufacturing hub in southern China on Tuesday signed 31 agreements worth $ 2.99 billion with their Taiwanese partners, on the occasion of Trade Week Taiwan-Guangdong.

Under these agreements, companies in Guangdong will buy electronic products, industrial raw materials and agricultural products from Taiwan and will invest in production of batteries and electronics on the island.

Both sides expect the signing of agreements worth $ 6.7 billion during the week, said Liang Yaoguang, director of the Department of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation of Guangdong at the ceremony Opening Week of Commerce.

Companies in Guangdong will buy Taiwan products worth a total of 6.66 billion and will invest 40.86 million dollars in three projects in Taiwan, he added.

The delegation of more than 1000 people from Guangdong, led by Governor Huang Huahua, arrived Monday in Taipei. 160 entrepreneurs from 90 different companies are among the members of the delegation.

The attraction for Taiwan investors in Guangdong due to several factors, which are the geographical situation of the island, the similarities in language and culture, well-educated population, and the fact that Taiwainais are close partners who have mastered the most advanced technologies and demonstrate good management practices, analyzed Yunge Cai, deputy director of the Provincial Commission for Reform and Development.

In 2009, trade between Guangdong and Taiwan reached 38.5 billion dollars, and it has already reached 22.6 billion dollars in the first half of this year.
